The Gloucester Emergency Food Cupboard is very thankful to all the faithful donors who contribute food items or cash donations. Thanks to you, we can support our fellow community members when they need it.

We are currently looking for the following types of donations

  • Canned Fruit (preferably no sugar added)
  • Pasta Sauce
  • Cereal (boxes of cold cereal and bags of oatmeal)
  • Healthy School Snacks (small containers of fruit, applesauce, crackers, nut free granola bars) and real fruit juice boxes
  • Canned meats (tuna, chicken ham)
  • Cooking oil
  • Canned and dried beans
  • Pasta
  • Canned vegetables
  • Peanut butter
  • Flour
  • Sugar
  • Rice
  • Large format laundry detergent (powder or liquid)
  • Personal Hygiene products (toothpaste, soap, shampoo, TP, tampons, pads)
  • Baby Food, diapers (especially size 5 and 6)
  • You can also drop off bags of potatoes, onions, carrots, apples and oranges

Note:  We also have an ongoing use for:

  • round, empty margarine and yogurt containers with matching lids
  • 2 litre ice cream and margarine containers with matching lids
  • smaller glass jars up to 750 ml size
  • empty egg cartons (1 dozen and 1/2 dozen sizes)

Christmas List:

  • Pancake mix
  • Pancake syrup
  • Jams and honey
  • Family-sized laundry detergent
  • Nice boxes of cookies, crackers or chocolates
  • Cooking oil
  • Muffin, cookie and biscuit mixes
  • Hot chocolate mix, special teas
  • Ladies and men’s toiletries
  • Family-sized shampoo
  • Box of clementines
  • Stocking stuffers such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, children’s pajamas, mittens, hats

Cash donations are also welcomed for which tax receipts* are issued.  Different options are available to you:

1) Donate directly to the GEFC:

  • By filling out our Donation Slip – you can choose to donate every month or make a one-time donation. Return the form by email, by mail or drop it off at the Cupboard.
  • By cheque (to GEFC or Gloucester Emergency Food Cupboard) – Please make sure to include your full name and address so we can send you a tax receipt. Send it by mail or drop it off at the Cupboard.

2) Donate online on Canada Helps:

Canada Helps is an online portal who helps not-for-profit organizations raise funds and manage online donations in exchange of a nominal fee. You can make a one-time donation or choose the monthly donation option.

3) Donate through United Way:

Do you already donate to United Way Ottawa? Does your employer give you the opportunity to do a payroll deduction towards United Way? If so, you can ask United Way to direct your donation(s) directly to the Gloucester Emergency Food Cupboard.
