Donate online using Canada Helps

The Gloucester Emergency Food Cupboard is very thankful to all the faithful donors who contribute food items or cash donations. Thanks to you, we can support our fellow community members when they need it.

We are currently looking for the following types of donations

  • Canned fruit (preferably no sugar added)
  • Pasta sauce, tomato sauce or paste, and canned tomatoes
  • Oatmeal
  • Healthy school snacks (small containers of fruit, applesauce, crackers, nut free granola bars)
  • Canned meats (tuna, salmon, chicken, ham)
  • Cooking oil
  • Canned and dried beans, lentils and chick peas
  • Pasta
  • Canned vegetables, especially peas and corn
  • Flour
  • Rice
  • Cake mixes (we give out for birthdays)
  • Large format laundry detergent (powder or liquid)
  • Personal hygiene products (toothpaste, soap, shampoo, toilet paper, tampons, pads)
  • Baby food (single ingredients) and diapers (especially size 5 and 6)
  • Bags of potatoes, onions, carrots, apples and oranges, bananas

We also have an ongoing use for:

  • round, empty margarine and yogurt containers with matching lids
  • 2 litre ice cream and margarine containers with matching lids
  • small hard plastic juice bottles with lids
  • smaller glass jars up to 750 ml size
  • empty egg cartons (1 dozen and 1/2 dozen sizes)

Christmas List:

  • Pancake mix
  • Pancake syrup
  • Jams and honey
  • Family-sized laundry detergent
  • Nice boxes of cookies, crackers or chocolates
  • Cooking oil
  • Muffin, cookie and biscuit mixes
  • Hot chocolate mix, special teas
  • Ladies and men’s toiletries
  • Family-sized shampoo
  • Box of clementines
  • Stocking stuffers such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, children’s pajamas, mittens, hats

Cash donations are also welcomed for which tax receipts* are issued.  Different options are available to you:

1) Donate directly to the GEFC:

  • By filling out our Donation Slip – you can choose to donate every month or make a one-time donation. Return the form by email, by mail or drop it off at the Cupboard.

OR

  • By cheque (to GEFC or Gloucester Emergency Food Cupboard) – Please make sure to include your full name and address so we can send you a tax receipt. Send it by mail or drop it off at the Cupboard.

2) Donate online on Canada Helps:

Canada Helps is an online portal who helps not-for-profit organizations raise funds and manage online donations in exchange of a nominal fee. You can make a one-time donation or choose the monthly donation option.

3) Donate through United Way:

Do you already donate to United Way Ottawa? Does your employer give you the opportunity to do a payroll deduction towards United Way? If so, you can ask United Way to direct your donation(s) directly to the Gloucester Emergency Food Cupboard. To do so, please contact United Way directly at giving@unitedwayottawa.ca or if you are participating in the payroll deduction program contact your workplace representative.

  • Fruits en conserve (de préférence sans sucre ajouté)
    Sauce pour pâtes, sauce tomate ou pâte, et tomates en conserve
  • Gruau
  • Collations scolaires saines (petits contenants de fruits, compote de pommes, biscuits, barres granola sans noix)
  • Viandes en conserve (thon, saumon, poulet, jambon)
  • Huile de cuisson
  • Haricots en conserve et secs, lentilles et pois chiches
  • Pâtes
  • Légumes en conserve, surtout les pois et le maïs
  • Farine
  • Riz
  • Mélanges de gâteaux (nous donnons pour les anniversaires)
  • Détergent à lessive grand format
  • Produits d’hygiène personnelle (dentifrice, savon, shampooing, papier hygiénique, tampons, tampons)
  • Aliments pour bébés (ingrédients uniques) et couches (surtout les tailles 5 et 6)
  • Sacs de pommes de terre, oignons, carottes, pommes et oranges, bananes

Nous acceptons toujours les objets suivants:

  • Contenants ronds vides de margarine et de yogourt avec couvercles assortis
  • Contenants de crème glacée de 2 litres et de margarine avec couvercles assortis
  • Petites bouteilles de jus en plastique dur avec couvercles
  • Petits pots en verre jusqu’à 750 ml
  • Boîtes d’œufs vides (1 douzaine et 1/2 douzaine de tailles)

  • Confitures et miel
  • Détergent à lessive familial
  • Belles boîtes de biscuits, biscuits ou chocolats
  • Huile de cuisson

  • Articles de toilette pour femmes et hommes
  • Shampooing familial
  • Boîte de clémentines
  • Chaussettes telles que dentifrice, brosses à dents, pyjamas pour enfants, mitaines, chapeaux
